Since earning his MBA in Finance from Columbia University, Howard has spent twenty-five + years in Finance and Procurement roles for several major multi-national corporations, including Air Products & Chemicals, United Technologies, MasterFoods USA (formerly M&M/Mars), GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Merck & Co., Inc.. Howard’s responsibilities have included stints in Finance, Production Control, Plant Purchasing, Supply Chain Business Development, Raw Material commodities Hedging and Trading, and leading Global IT Procurement functions managing hardware, software, telecommunications and outsourced/offshore services sourcing strategies.

Just prior to launching his consultancy and sales representation business, LEVEFLIELD ENTERPRISES, LLC., Howard served as head of Marketing and Commercial Services Procurement for Merck & Co., Inc. with responsibility for the global buying strategies for Corporate, Site, Travel, Logistics, HR and Professional Services; Media, Marketing and Promotional Services; Energy and IT. This $5 billion global procurement responsibility and his leadership role on the Global Procurement Management Committee followed his tenure as Chief of Staff to the CPO and Sr. Director of Procurement Change Management, where he has helped lead the transformation of Merck’s Global Procurement Department into a highly integrated, best in class function.

Throughout his professional career, Howard has been an advocate of building Supplier Diversity capability in Corporate, IT and Commercial Services functions. Through this advocacy and leadership, he helped establish GSK and Merck as premiere organizations in the use of minority, woman-owned, and veteran-owned businesses. Howard also served on the boards of the US Pan-Asian American Chamber of Commerce (which promotes use of firms owned by Asian-Americans), and Telerx, a wholly-owned call center facility that provides value-added services and customer-facing solutions to packaged goods and pharmaceutical clients.
Howard has also been a frequent guest lecturer at Procurement conferences sponsored by Aberdeen Consulting, IACCM and Hackett Advisory Services as well as Columbia University Graduate School of Business, Lehigh University, and Northampton (PA) Community College.
